Topical anesthesia is applied for 40 minutes to decrease the pain. Pain threshold is equal to a sting or small insect bite. A little discomfort is felt during the procedure.
After cleaning the numbing cream the microneedling tip is placed on the skin and needles with radiofrequency energy is released into a 1×1 cm patch. Two to 3 passes are done to achieve better results.
Normally 4 to 6 sessions are needed to obtain a significant improvement. Energy released depends on the skin condition to be treated.
Immediately after treatment there will redness. A topical antibiotic is prescribed for 5 days. Mandatory use of sunscreen and emollient is recommended.there might be little crust formation which will fall of in 2 to 3 days
Temporary erythema, edema, and itching may be observed, these last for a few hours after treatment. Rarely infection or pigmentation may develop.
